A brief look at a man respected all over the world
Ermias Asghedom, but known to the public as Nipsey Hussle was murdered on March 31 in front of his Marathon clothing store in LA, the place many said Nipsey helped improve with his music, love, and by motivating the youth to educate themselves and strive for their dreams.
Nipsey was born and raised in Crenshaw, a neighborhood that was knows for extreme violence and had a reputation of leaving young black man like himself either dead or in jail.
Fast forward 20 years later and Nipsey found himself having a lot of success in the music industry by creating his own label, being named XXL Magazine’s “Top Ten Freshman”, and carving his name into an extremely inspirational icon in the music industry.
Nipsey was a leader in his community after starting his store, The Marathon, that he proudly handled day to day activity and encouraged the impoverished youth to explore to gain inspirational guidance to escape the deadly street life. With plans to erect a six-story residential building to provide reasonable housing options for the communities members, Nipsey had aspirations to clean up the city and put a new face to the Crenshaw community.
Sadly, as he stood outside of his own store, he was shot and killed by an assailant that some claim to have been close to Nipsey during his upbringing. His death quickly swept over the music, sports, and acting industries with multiple icons sending their prayers and condolences to Nipsey’s loved ones.
This tragedy has shaken the world as they have lost another icon, and a man that worked night and day to create a better world for all of the people around him. Let his efforts and purpose live through you as you continue your journey.
